The U.S.-manufactured ActiveLED^® Capitol-Retrofit is an innovative, self-contained LED light engine designed to easily replace the inefficient, high-wattage light bulb assembly in an existing rectangular-style recessed fixture, providing energy savings of 50-80 percent.

Many municipalities, commercial properties and car dealerships use recessed rectangular-style fixtures underneath overhangs to illuminate exterior paths and walkways. Typically, these fixtures use inefficient Metal Halide light bulbs (up to 300 Watt) and ballasts needing frequent replacement.

The existing fixture can be retrofitted with the low-wattage ActiveLED Capitol-Retrofit engine and still retain the same exterior characteristics. The only noticeable difference in its outward appearance is a better quality of light, which helps to significantly improve the safety value of its surroundings. Ringdale’s patented LED technology also ensures a long life span of 90,000 hours, lowering the bottom line when it comes to maintenance and operational costs.

The ActiveLED Capitol-Retrofit meets the latest sustainability mandates for reducing energy usage. For applications where lower light levels would be appropriate during periods of inactivity, the retrofitted lamplight can be interconnected with Ringdale’s own intelligent controller providing automatic dimming and on/off capabilities.

Existing rectangular recessed fixture with ActiveLED^® Capitol-Retrofit engine Installed

The following is existing recessed rectangular fixtures under an overhang with their original legacy electronics removed and the ActiveLED Capitol-Retrofits installed and fully functional.

ActiveLED^® Capitol-Retrofit Schematic

The ActiveLED Capitol-Retrofit replaces the existing inefficient bulb. The ActiveLED power supply / driver is a direct replacement for the existing fixture's "ballast" that sits apart from the light source in the top of the fixture, as shown in the following schematic:

Removing existing legacy bulb and Electronics Assembly

It is a very straightforward process to remove the existing bulb and ballast in preparation for installing the ActiveLED Capitol-Retrofit.

The existing electronics assembly will need to be disposed of safely and in accordance with local regulations.

●	Unplug all electrical connections before starting any work on the light fixture.
●	Disconnect the AC wiring and remove the existing top lid assembly complete with the existing ballast electronics of the rectangular recessed fixture, dispose of safely in accordance with local regulations. Retain mounting screws and hardware
●	Install the Lid and power supply / driver assembly of the ActiveLED Capitol-Retrofit using the existing screws and hardware. Connect the AC line feed (100 to 277 VAC) to the power supply / driver.
●	Hinge down the fixture's glass diffuser assembly and remove the existing bulb electronics and dispose of safely in accordance with local regulations, retaining all screws and mounting hardware for use in the reassembly.
●	Connect the low-voltage DC cables between the ActiveLED Light assembly and the ActiveLED power supply and carefully position the light assembly under the glass diffuser, using existing screws and hardware to secure it into place.
●	Apply AC power (100 to 277 VAC) to verify that the ActiveLED Capitol-Retrofit is working satisfactorily before closing and securing the existing glass diffuser.

NOTE: Original Rectangular fixture and diffuser assembly are not included in the price.
